Gas is the part of a heating installation where 'near enough' has consequences. Pipework that is undersized for the appliance's demand shows up as a working pressure drop and an appliance that never performs, and an installation that was never tested or documented becomes a problem at sale or letting. Both are avoidable with the right pipe sizing and a proper test at the end.
For clarity on scope: we do not work on gas fires, below-ground drainage, drainage or CCTV surveys, or legionella risk assessments. What we do cover is gas supply and appliance work tied to heating and hot water, along with the boiler servicing and certification that keeps it all documented. Why gas work is the one job never to compromise on
Gas faults are not gradual inconveniences. The consequences are immediate, which is exactly why registration, testing and certification exist.
Unregistered work is genuinely dangerous

Gas works detail: pipe sizing, testing and scope
The technical decisions below are the ones that determine whether a gas installation is safe, compliant and capable of running the appliance in front of it.
Pipe sizing and working pressure
Sizing accounts for the appliance's gas rate, the total run length and every fitting along the way. We verify working pressure at the appliance under full load, not just standing pressure with everything off: the difference between those two readings is where underperforming boilers are usually explained.
Routes, protection and materials
Copper and, where appropriate, steel pipework is clipped, supported and protected where it passes through structure, with sleeving and ventilation considerations for voids and enclosures. Routes are planned so the pipe is accessible for future testing rather than buried where nobody can reach it.
Tightness testing and combustion checks
Every installation is tightness tested before being brought into use, and where an appliance is connected we take combustion readings with an analyser and check the flue and ventilation provision. Results are recorded on the paperwork you keep.
Isolation, capping and appliance changeovers
Appliance isolation valves are fitted so future servicing does not mean shutting down the house, and redundant supplies are capped, tested and documented. When an appliance changes, we check that the existing supply can carry the new demand before connecting it.
