What a full bathroom installation with us involves
We install complete bathrooms: strip-out and disposal of the old suite, first-fix supply and waste pipework, shower and bath installation, WC and basin, heated towel rails and radiators, underfloor heating where it suits the room, tiling, sealing, extraction and the final connections and commissioning. Where a boiler or cylinder needs to change to support the new outlets, the same engineers do that too.
The single biggest reason bathroom projects go wrong is handovers. A plumber leaves, a tiler arrives to a floor that was never set up for tiling, an electrician cuts a pipe run, and nobody owns the outcome. Our five-strong team stays with the job, which is why our reviews mention two bathroom suites, whole-house underfloor heating and a combi boiler being delivered as one installation to a high standard.
Before any of it starts you get a free first visit with no call-out fee and a fixed written price covering the work. You keep control of the suite and the tiles; we make sure the pipework, falls, pressure and heating behind them are right, because those are the parts you cannot change once the tiling is on.
Who it is for
- Homeowners replacing a tired suite and wanting one accountable team rather than four trades
- Families adding a second bathroom, en-suite or downstairs shower room
- Anyone converting a bath to a level-access or walk-in shower
- Landlords who need a durable, low-maintenance bathroom fitted to a date
When it is needed
- Tiles or grout staining and lifting, or sealant that goes black again within weeks of being redone
- A shower that has never had proper flow, or that drops when a tap runs elsewhere
- A layout that no longer works for the household, or one that needs to work for reduced mobility
- Movement, soft flooring or a stain on the ceiling below: signs water has got past the surface

What goes wrong when a bathroom is fitted cheaply
In a bathroom the expensive failures are the invisible ones. Tiles and taps can be changed later; falls, waterproofing and pipework cannot, not without taking the room back out.
Water behind the tiles
Board and sealing that were never specified for a wet area let water pass the surface. It shows up months later as lifting tiles, a soft floor, or a stain on the ceiling below, and the repair means removing what you just paid to install.
Waste falls that were guessed
Too little fall and the trap holds water and smells; too much and solids are left behind. Both get blamed on the suite and neither is fixable from the outside.
Outlets the system cannot supply
Adding a second bathroom without checking the boiler or cylinder gives you two showers that both disappoint. The system needs sizing before the suite is ordered, not after.
Extraction left as an afterthought
Without adequate extraction the moisture goes into the paint, the plaster and the window reveals. Persistent mould in a new bathroom is almost always a ventilation fault.
Common mistakes we are called out to undo
- Buying the suite before anyone has measured the room and the existing waste positions.
- Tiling straight onto old plasterboard in a shower area because it was already there.
- Treating sealant as waterproofing rather than as the last cosmetic line of defence.
- Losing the towel rail from the heating circuit so the room is the coldest one in the house.
How we handle bathroom installation, step by step
The same sequence on every job, so you always know what happens next and what it costs before it happens.
Step 1
Free design and survey visit
We measure the room, check waste positions, water pressure and what your boiler or cylinder can actually deliver. No charge, no call-out fee.
Step 2
Specification and fixed written price
A clear scope covering strip-out, pipework, suite, heating, tiling and making good, priced in writing with a start and finish date.
Step 3
Strip-out and first fix
Old suite removed and taken away, supply and waste reworked, falls set, heating and any underfloor circuits laid in, and everything pressure-tested while it is still accessible.
Step 4
Boarding, tiling and second fix
Wet areas boarded and sealed, tiling set out from the room's sightlines, then the suite, brassware, towel rail and extraction fitted and connected.
Step 5
Testing and verification
Every outlet run under load, waste runs and shower trays flood-tested, heating balanced, and any gas or boiler work certified on completion.
Step 6
Clean handover and guarantee
The room cleaned, rubbish removed, controls explained, paperwork handed over and our 12-month guarantee in place.
What you actually get out of it
One team, one point of accountability
Plumbing, heating, tiling and commissioning by the same five-strong team, so nothing falls between trades.
A price fixed before the strip-out
You know the number before the old suite leaves the house, not after the room is unusable.
A finish people actually comment on
Cleanliness and tidiness are the two things our Checkatrade reviewers mention repeatedly, including going the extra mile to match a customer's preferences.
Heating that suits the room
Towel rails, radiators and underfloor heating specified and balanced as part of the installation, not bolted on afterwards.
Gas Safe and fully insured
Registration 620784, with £2 million public liability and £1 million employer's liability cover.
Guaranteed for 12 months
Backed by a 12-month guarantee, with the same engineers returning if anything needs adjusting.
Bathroom installation detail: materials, methods and variations
The specification choices below are the ones that decide whether a bathroom still looks new in five years, so we make them with you at survey rather than on the day.
Substrates and waterproofing
Shower and bath surrounds want a board suited to wet areas rather than whatever the wall was made of, with joints and corners treated before any tile goes on. Movement joints go in the internal corners and at the tray or bath edge, because that is where a rigid grout line always fails first. Sealant is the finish, not the waterproofing.
Trays, falls and wet rooms
A tray is levelled and bedded so it cannot flex, with the waste accessible for future servicing. For a level-access or wet-room finish we form the fall in the floor itself with a graded former and a linear or centre gully, then flood-test before tiling. That test is not optional: it is the only chance to find a fault while it is still cheap.
Supply, pressure and outlet balance
Thermostatic showers need balanced supply to hold temperature when a tap or WC is used elsewhere, so we check dynamic pressure and flow at survey and size the runs accordingly. On a combi, simultaneous outlets are limited by flow rate; on a cylinder system, by recovery and capacity. That decision belongs before the suite is chosen.
Heating, extraction and drying
A towel rail on the heating circuit, a correctly rated extractor ducted to outside, and underfloor heating where the floor build-up allows all serve the same purpose: getting the room dry quickly. A bathroom that dries fast stays clean, and mould stops being a maintenance job.
Variations of this service we carry out
Family bathroom replacement
Like-for-like layouts renewed with better pipework, boarding and heating, typically the fastest route to a finished room.
En-suites and downstairs shower rooms
New rooms formed from existing space, including new supply and waste routes and, where needed, an upgrade to the boiler or cylinder.
Level-access and wet rooms
Baths converted to walk-in or level-access showers with formed falls, linear gullies and grab-rail provision for easier daily use.

Bathroom Installation: your questions answered
How much does a new bathroom cost?
It depends on the suite, the tiling and how much pipework has to move, so we survey first and give you a fixed written price. The survey and quote are free and there is no call-out fee.
How long does a bathroom installation take?
A straightforward replacement is usually a matter of days rather than weeks; layout changes, wet rooms and underfloor heating add time. You get a start and finish date with your written price.
Do you supply the suite or do I buy it?
Either. Plenty of customers choose their own suite and tiles and we specify and install everything behind them: tell us what you have in mind at the survey and we will confirm the system can supply it.
Can you fit underfloor heating in a bathroom?
Yes. We install underfloor heating, including whole-house systems, and will confirm at survey whether your floor build-up and heat source suit it.
Will I lose my only bathroom for long?
We plan the strip-out so water and, where possible, a WC are back in service each evening, and we agree the sequence with you before the first day.
Is the installation guaranteed?
Yes, our work carries a 12-month guarantee. We are Gas Safe registered under 620784 and hold £2 million public liability and £1 million employer's liability insurance.
How long should a well-fitted bathroom last?
The elements we install (pipework, boarding, falls, heating) are there for the long term. Sealant and grout are maintenance items, and a well-ventilated room keeps them looking right far longer.
Do you fit bathrooms in Harpenden and St Albans as well as Luton?
Yes, all three are core areas for us, along with Dunstable, Bedford, Milton Keynes and the wider Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire area.
Do I need a new boiler for a second bathroom?
Not always, but it has to be checked. We measure flow and capacity at survey and tell you honestly whether your current boiler or cylinder will run the extra outlets properly.
